VII International Law Forum of CIS held in Yerevan 6th to 8th June 2012

The VII International Law Forum of CIS was hosted in Yerevan. From its inception the Forum has been seen as one of the most prestigious venues for lawyers and partners of leading law firms both in the CIS and the world to meet. This year's event was attended by over 135 representatives from 25 countries, including firms in the professional network of the CIS Leading Counsel Network (CIS LCN), which brings together the leading law firms in the region.

The Forum traditionally takes place in cities of the CIS-region with the support of network members of CIS LCN. This year it was hosted by the leading national law firm of Armenia-"Ameria".

"The ongoing Forum in Yerevan can be a great boost for the development of legal practice in Armenia, and for establishment of effective business relationships between law firms and foreign investors. Each year the Forumattracts more and more lawyers from both the CIS countries, as well as representatives from international law firms. It is important as it provides the opportunity for more reliable protection of investment both in Armenia and abroad, "- said David Sarkisyan, the Partner and the Head of Legal Practice of "Ameria".

The Forum participants were greeted by the representatives of the Government of Armenia, in particular, by the Prime Minister, Tigran Sarkisyan.

The main focus of the Forum in 2012 was the issue of globalisation.

"Our key objective is to bring together practitioners, as well as the interaction of national law firms in the CIS countries, in the context of globalisation. Nowadays the main challenge, which lawyers face, is globalisation from the perspective of legal business," - said Dmitry Afanasiev, the co-chair of the Forum, the Chairman of Partners of Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners Law Firm.

In addition to a comprehensive business programme ,guests had the opportunity to participate in various cultural events, including the football Cup of the Forum(this is the third time that this event has been held), which took place on June 8th, 2012. As well as this great sporting event, excursions were organised for the participants of the Forum, including visits to historical Echmiadzin, the Armenian religious centre, the Temple of Zvartnots and the Monastery Khor Virap.

The details of the forum are available on the website.
